Fame

Inspired by the 1980 film, Fame follows an exceptional group of dancers, singers, actors, and artists over four years at the New York City High School of Performing Arts.  They have practiced and prepared since childhood to prove they’re the best of their generation, and in this incredibly competitive atmosphere their passion will be put to the test.  Complicating a demanding rehearsal schedule are homework, midterms, and all the social drama of high school, with each student’s dream of recognition from their peers and a chance at stardom on the line.  As they each strive for their moment in the spotlight, they’ll discover who among them has the innate talent and necessary discipline to succeed.

As a story about performers whose abilities transcend the shallow, fifteen-minute idea of celebrity, Fame explodes with music and dance and showcases a cast of real-life triple threats whose artistic abilities mirror the expertise of their characters.

The talented cast includes Asher Book as Marco, Kristy Flores as Rosie, Paul Iacono as Neil, Paul McGill as Kevin, Naturi Naughton as Denise, Kay Panabaker as Jenny, Kherington Payne as Alice, Collins Pennie as Malik, Walter Perez as Victor, and Anna Maria Perez de Tagle as Joy.  The instructor cast includes Megan Mullally as Fran Rowan, Kelsey Grammer as Joel Cranston, Charles S. Dutton as Alvin Dowd, Bebe Neuwirth as Lynn Kraft, and Debbie Allen as Principal Simms.

On September 25th, 2009, they’ll each need dedication, passion – and most of all, each other – in their pursuit of Fame.
